Description: Here for your consideration is a delightfully preserved 1957 300SL Roadster presented in it’s original & rarely seen color combination of grey-white with original blue leather interior. The odometer has registered only 19,313 original miles during it’s 5 owner history with the last owner having properly stored the car for 20 years prior to our acquisition in 2005. Upon the awakening of this sleeping jewel, she was treated to a complete inspection & comprehensive servicing by Pinky Winther of Carmel, California who is the technical advisor for the Mercedes Gullwing Group as well as an owner & long term 300SL restoration master. Attesting to Pinky’s mastery & the incredible condition of this SL, is the flawless 3500 mile trip from Carmel to Biddeford, Maine made by my partner & I in May of 2006. This 10 day cross country sojourn took us through all types driving terrain from high speed highways to the twisties in the Rockies & through all elevation levels. The 300 rode & drove like a dream throughout. Over the next few years we brought the condition of the car up a notch or two by having the original canvas top replaced, sending out the original Becker radio to the Becker factory for refurbishing, relpacing the age cracked steering wheel, having the auxillary set of chrome SL wheels sent out for truing & new tires, balancing the driveshaft including new u-joints, renewing transmission bearings & seals, radiator recore & replacing the aged tar mat & carpet in the trunk. Needless to say this SL is ready for it’s next cross country trip, ralley or the SL Convention. The car comes complete with the auxillary factory hard top & stand, European headlights & the original factory painted/polished wheels clad with original size Michelin 6.70-15 X tires.
